We have partnered exclusively with this fast growing and ambitious legal tech business, to recruit a UK Communications Lead to their expanding team. This is an absolutely integral role and will see the successful candidate help build the comms function from the ground up, shaping and executing external comms strategies to enhance the organisation’s profile within the UK legal technology market, fostering visibility and reputation among a diverse audience.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement media strategies to promote the organisation’s voice across legal, business, and technology media outlets.
- Build and nurture relationships with journalists and external partners to secure proactive coverage and manage reactive media enquiries.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to gather compelling client success stories, case studies, and ROI data to generate content suitable for various media channels.
- Gain deep product understanding by working with product, sales, and leadership teams to craft clear and engaging messaging for external audiences.
- Manage reputation, issues, and crises by monitoring industry developments, preparing responses, and engaging with regulators and professional bodies.
- Create and oversee visibility programmes for senior leadership, including media training, speaking opportunities, podcasts, and thought leadership articles.
- Write and edit press releases, statements, briefing notes, and opinion pieces, ensuring clarity and consistency in tone and messaging.
- Partner with external agencies, jointly directing campaigns, briefing them on strategy, and approving content while monitoring budgets and deliverables.
- Co-develop the annual communications plan with measurable KPIs such as share of voice, sentiment, coverage, and message resonance, reporting regularly on progress.
- Support internal communications initiatives, aligning external narratives with internal messaging on media achievements and brand campaigns.
- Collaborate closely with marketing, product, and customer teams to ensure integrated messaging and a consistent employer brand.
Experience required
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in PR, corporate communications, or corporate affairs, ideally within legal or professional services sectors.
- Proven track record of securing impactful coverage in tier-one and trade media that influences perceptions and drives results.
- Deep understanding of the legal sector, law firms, legal media, and the key issues impacting the sector.
- Demonstrable experience with B2B SaaS or technology companies; knowledge of AI and its impact on communications is a plus.
- Existing relationships with legal journalists in the UK and familiarity with legal industry regulations and communication channels.
- Exceptional writing skills, capable of producing clear, concise, and engaging content across formats.
- Strong judgement and diplomacy, able to advise senior leaders on reputation management and navigate sensitive issues confidently.
- Experience engaging with regulators, professional bodies, or policy stakeholders, would be advantageous.
